The Nokia 5800 will be sold in Russia by Eldorado, from the 5th of December. Eldorado's head of devices expects to sell 10 000 of them, twice as much as the iPhone.
Maxim Pavlov, head of devices, Eldorado, says that "We will be happy to offer our customers this innovative product, as the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. During the month, we plan to sell more than 10 thousand Communicators Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. This figure is 2 times higher than that of the iPhone, which is sold at 5 thousand per month.".
The 5800 will be selling in Russia for 15,000 ruble.
If yes, you're in the right place. While you wait for the 5800, we've got 20 code vouchers for you to download applications at Handango. The only setback (or not), is that you have to review the app.
Well if you are interested, do let me know if the comment section. Your review will be featured on the Nokia N96 Blog, and if it is good enough on PhoneReport.
I met Mikko Rontynen today at the Symbian Smartphones Show in London. I gathered quite a lot of content for PhoneReport, but managed to get this clever explanation of what adaptive search really is. I wasn't aware of its use, so do take a look, might be a good reason to actually buy the 5800:
Nokia results came today below than expected wich lead to more losses in Nokia shares, from Helsínquia Nokia closed the day losing -4.156% touching in the day a low of 10.20 euros.
As we can see in the left side, Nokia shares are losing more than the rest of the sector. This are just evidences of what could come in the results.
Today, Nokia announced that third-quarter profit fell 30 percent, being a possible cause of that the competition from BlackBerry and Samsung models. Also the Global Crisis affected Nokia as a company, because the mobile phone production may diminish as "buying power" is being lost all over the world.
Nokia profits in this quarter was 1,09 billion euros compared with 1,56 billions in the laste year for the same period. Analists were expecting a profit over 1,12 billion euros. In my humble opinion, this profits were normal as we won't see the consequences of this crisis right now, but maninly from Chiristmas we will see who is winning the market and if the consumers will remain buying Nokia mobile phones.
What about Nokia 5800?
Nokia has trailed Apple and Samsung in bringing devices with touch-screens to the market. The company's first such phone, the 5800 ExpressMusic, will ship this quarter in some markets.
Apple sold 1 million units of its new iPhone 3G in its first three days of release in July. Nokia has said it plans to bring touch-screen models to all price ranges. Nokia's 5800 handset will retail for about 30 percent less than Apple's iPhone, according to Citigroup.
Mobile in Canada has found out that it's Rogers who will bring the 5800 to their country. You'll have to wait until next year though, not much longer, only 3 months or so.
Four videos below show the 5800 put to use and demonstrate what you can do with Ovi. Instead of watching them, you can always embed or download them, so here are the links:
Reuters has said that the 5800 will miss the Christmas season, which is usually the best for both consumers and suppliers. Countries others than India, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Russia and Spain will only see the phone next year.
Nokia is quite late on touchscreen phones, there are only two of them in the market from the manufacturer, and the delay in shipping means that the company will lose market share, but most importantly, our readers might just go for another device.
Not all is bad news, here's a video of the live Remix event in London, courtesy of mocoNews:
