Espoo, Finland - Nokia announced today that the highly anticipated Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is now, or soon will be, available in select markets globally, including Russia, Spain, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Finland, among others. The latest in Nokia's XpressMusic range, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers an affordable music device with a touch screen interface to the mass market.
Aiming to put music into the hands of millions, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks, support for all main digital music formats, and a 3.5mm jack. Built-in surround sound stereo speakers offer the industry's most powerful sound.
"When it comes to music phones, people all over the world want a device that is a great music experience and still works really well as a mobile phone, without sacrificing features," said Jo Harlow, Vice President, Nokia. "The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers on this and allows consumers to quickly and easily access and share the content that is most important to them with the people that are most important to them."
Making the most of touch screen technology, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers easy and fast access to all music, video and photos through a one-touch 'Mediabar' drop down menu. The Media Bar also offers a direct link to the Web and to online sharing. Because the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports Flash content, individuals can surf the entire web.
The innovative 'Contacts Bar' lets people highlight four favorite contacts on their home-screen and, through a single touch, track a digital history of recent text messages, emails, phone logs, photos and blog updates.
For the best screen resolution available on a mobile phone, the 3.2" widescreen display brings photos, video clips and web content to life in vibrant color and true clarity.  With a 16 by 9 aspect ratio and 30 frames-per-second playback and recording, the device is ideal for VGA quality video recording and playback.  The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and, with a single touch, images or videos can be shared via a favorite online community, such as Share on Ovi, Flickr, or Facebook.
Ensuring a seamless music experience, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also provides easy access to browse and purchase tracks from the Nokia Music Store, where applicable, while the newly updated Nokia Music PC software allows for easy drag-and-drop transfer of songs and management of any music collection.
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports 60 languages worldwide and offers a variety of input methods including a virtual alphanumeric keypad, a virtual computer-style QWERTY keyboard, a pen stylus -- and for true music enthusiasts, a plectrum -- are all available.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic available in India!

Nokia 5800 Blog readers and enthusiasts from India, your time has come, the phone now has a release date for your country, so pre-order it, and let us know your reactions when January comes!

According to Symbian-Freak, the price will be Rs 21,839, which is higher than the price announced for Europe. Is it normal pricing in India? Is it fair, unfair? Let us know! What I do know is that it's lower than the iPhone there, and it won't be locked to network.

Here is the statement from Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President, Nokia:

"With more than 300 million music enabled devices sold, and a strong base of over 10 Nokia Music stores in operation globally, Nokia has been able to gain incredible amount of knowledge and insights on what people want in a music device and track important trends on how people consume music. We will continue to break new grounds in this space by building more and better services for our consumers."

D. Shivakumar, Managing Director, Nokia India said:

"As Nokia's first mass-market device with a touch screen, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic turns a 'user interface' into a 'human interface' by truly putting people first. When it comes to music phones, people all over the world want a device that is a great music experience - with more memory, loud and powerful speakers, easy synchronization - and must still work well as a mobile phone with direct access to important contacts and content. The iconic Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers on all these counts."

Oh, and if that wasn't enough, Nokia Music Store beta should open in January too.

For the meanwhile, delight yourself with the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic review from PhoneReport.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Cloned?

The guys at CNMobiBar have taken exclusive pictures of the 5800 clone. If believe that this mobile was produced in China, you are totally right.

Once again China is in the front line and even before the release of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, they made their own 5800. In my opinion the clone looks ugly with front buttons (green and red), the design is totally different and it does not run Symbian S60.

Li 5800 (the phone's name) has a 3 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of only 240 x 400 while the resolution of the real 5800’s screen is of 360 x 640 pixels), it has Bluetooth, and runs MP3, MP4 and Video 3GP.

Spain to get the 5800 on the 1st of December

Spanish consumers will be the first to get the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, on the 1st of December, a day before Nokia World opens in Barcelona, according to NokNok.

The 5800 is rumoured to sell at 279€ only, which doesn't make sense, as that was the price announced without subsidies or taxes.

Nokia World will run on the 2nd and 3rd of December. Other countries should also get the 5800 for Christmas, but for those who don't, it should be there January the latest.

Eight 5800s stacked on top of each other

You'll never these many together before they go commercial! From my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic review at PhoneReport.

I didn't have the phone with me for more than a half an hour, so I was only able to cover features such as superficial apps and such. Hardware isn't very difficult to cover as I only to interpret what I felt, but I am waiting for the review unit so that I can share full insight into what the 5800 can really do.

Mikko Röntynen, Head of S60 Customer Spearhead Projects, Mobile Software Sales and Marketing, Nokia, was very kind in letting us photograph the phone and explaining some of the upgrades. You can check the video where he explains the use of adaptive search in contacts here.
