Spain to get the 5800 on the 1st of December

By Meraj Chhaya | Nov 12, 2008

Spanish consumers will be the first to get the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, on the 1st of December, a day before Nokia World opens in Barcelona, according to NokNok.

The 5800 is rumoured to sell at 279€ only, which doesn’t make sense, as that was the price announced without subsidies or taxes.

Nokia World will run on the 2nd and 3rd of December. Other countries should also get the 5800 for Christmas, but for those who don’t, it should be there January the latest.

    Hello,
You were right by saying it wouldn’t make sense if the 5800 cost “only” 279€. Anyway, the price is already known on the spanish website. The 5800 will be sold at 429€ ( only blue or red versions ).

    why is nokia doing that?

first the built up excitment with a price of 279 + tax, which were there own words, and now the want to get 50% more money?

Tax isn’t cheap, and then networks have their mark-up

Somehow I agree with npalko about taxes. I mean if the 5800 cost 279€ without taxes, it doesn’t make sense for it to be over 400€ ( with taxes ). Then, being from France, I’m getting worried about the price here, because Spain is supposed to have the cheapest prices for Nokia products ( UK ones are quite good aswell ). Anyway, there won’t be any surprise if this is the exact price.
Such a phone costing so little, it just was unbelievable… ^^

The price of Nokia on spanish website includes 100€ in Nokia Music Store.
    Total: 279 + 44.64 (taxes) + 1.2 (SGAE’s taxes) + 100€ (N.M.Store) = 424.84€
The price attached at Movistar for 24 months is 249€, or free depending on voice and data contract.
All of this is only on December (during Movistar’s exclusive), is supposed to be cheaper next year (January).
    Sorry for mistakes.

Does anybody know exactly when 5800 will be released in USA ?
Talking in a chat to the Nokia USA support I was told it will take about 3 months, probably by T-mobile… W

You should post your question at the forum, you’ll find users with answers probably.
