What is Zombie Infection?
Zombie Infection is a downloadable game from Game Loft.
It’s 2011 A.D. and you are in New York City.
While patrolling the streets of New York as part of a team of trained officers, you are plunged into the height of bloodthirsty zombies killing everyone on sight. This is caused by the release of a frightening virus that turns people into flesh-eating zombies.
You go in as three people: a military officer, a news reporter, and a hand-to-hand combat specialist. You also have all the latest weapons at your disposal including a Rocket launcher, Katana, Grenades, Laser Gun and Machine Gun.
In the actual game, there are 36 missions to finish and save the city (and the world) from the deadly virus and its zombies. You can even use lights & shadows to avoid or attract & kill zombies allergic to light and not just your ammo and high-powered armaments.
You can use the environments to finish your mission. You can break through walls, burn trees in your way and open doors.
My Take on Zombie Infection
Zombie Infection takes you back when video games are pixilated and are two-dimensional. But this did not stop Game Loft from producing one of the scariest mobile games out there.
The sounds effects, soundtrack and the graphics are very good for this genre. It does have a very high scare factor.
For the controls, you can use the keypad that comes with the application or your stylus to guide them via the screen. Sometimes, the control can get haywire and your character starts shooting even if you don’t want him to.
I would have love the game done in landscape mode to maximize the real estate of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. This would have been a better gaming experience since most game are done landscape mode.
Blast those creep's heads.
Verdict on Zombie Infection
Download this game. It will give you a sneak peak on the world of Zombie Infection. There is some realism to it and does have a great story that can get you so involved. Since Halloween is almost here, we are giving you some Halloween-ish applications that you can use when you trick or treat with your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. Here’s another small yet nifty application from OffScreen Technologies. It’s an application called “Candle Touch”
What is Candle Touch?
Candle Touch is a small and lightweight application from OffScreen technologies.
When you launch the application, you will be greeted with a candle and a wick situated in a dark background. Then, the candle will start to light and fire will appear on the candle’s wick.
At the upper left corner, you will see a big “I” which will pop the “About Us” window. At the upper right corner, you will see a big “X” which obviously ends the application.
If you want to extinguish the fire, just touch the screen again and Candle Touch will put off the fire just for you.
To light the candle, all you need to do is flick the screen. The wick will spark and a flame will appear. You must flick the screen a bit hard because the candle will not light if u do not do this.
My Take on Candle Touch?
Candle Touch is a very simple application with a very simple premise – to make your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone be a candle. I know you might think it’s a dumb idea. But remember, this is technology and these programmers are merely testing the boundaries and offerings of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone.
I would say that the animation is quite convincing. It does look like a flickering candle. I would believe these are captured images from a real candle. But to make them animate seamless is short of amazing.
I like it that the candle even has smoke appearing when you extinguish the fire. It has a very nice effect.
Unfortunately, the flame does not follow gravity when you tilt it left or right. For example, you turn the candle upside down. In reality, the flame will always move straight up. In this case, it is straight down. Now this must be the limitation of the animation but it is something nice to have especially if you are saying that this is a candle.

Download this application. Carry it with you especially if you will use it for Halloween. It’s a great accessory when you go trick or treating.

It is almost 2 months since we last reviewed the Symabook app which was then launched in its alpha stage one. Now the application has entered its 2nd Alpha. Generally when an application is released, it undergoes a number of stages after which it reaches its final release. Alpha stage marks the very first stage of release of an application which can then be further broken down into stages after which it will reach the Beta stage.
I found the application much more stable than the previous release which gives a positive vibe about its future releases. I was able to navigate through most of its features quite successfully. However, i always got stuck on the Photos option in the options bar. It actually starts loading the pictures in my Facebook profile pretty fast but then it gets stuck and i need to kill the application to get out of it.

What is Murphy’s Law?
Murphy’s Law is the story of Ghost Writer 'Jake Stone' who visits a small town in New Mexico rumored to have strange paranormal occurrences. He drives to town to investigate a legend called “The Legend of the Haunted Murphy House.” He requests the local sheriff to take him to this fabled haunted house located in the outskirts of the town. And just when you thought it was safe to go to the house, things go south and the two characters end up in a place we cannot even talk about here. Is the house really haunted? Are there much more than ghosts inside? Is there an evil presence that can destroy their souls? Will they ever leave the house alive? These are questions that are left unanswered.
Page navigation is done by simply swiping the screen. To turn to the next page, just swipe the screen to the left as if you are turning the page. The screen will scroll from left to right with a new page coming in. If you want to go to the previous page you just read, just swipe the screen to the right.
My take on Murphy’s Law
Murphy’s Law is another wonderful and scary offering from the imaginative minds of Carnival Comics. The guys at Carnival Comics do know their stuff. The characters, scenery and color shades are so vividly drawn. You can really feel scared just looking at the pictures.
The story is somehow similar to this movie “1408” starred by John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson where a writer who makes a living writing books and visiting haunted houses checks in room 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel. Let’s just say the movie was very scary and we suggest you watch it. Back to the comic.
Murphy’s Law let you now exit it anytime. Just tap on the screen and two options will appear. You can choose “Back” to return to the comic or select “Options” then “Exit.” There was no feature like this in its first offering and we appreciate the programmers of this application for adding this all important feature.
But not all were fixed. We would have preferred to have the ability to jump from one page to another instead of swiping the screen until we get to our desired page. Programmers of Carnival Comics – please add this soon.

As per Wiki, “Video podcast (sometimes shortened to vodcast) is a term used for the online delivery of video on demand video clip content via Atom or RSS enclosures. The term is used to distinguish between podcasts which most commonly contain audio files and those referring to the distribution of video where the RSS feed is used as a non-linear TV channel to which consumers can subscribe using a PC, TV, set-top box, media center or mobile multimedia device.”
In our case, we are using Nokia 5800 as the mobile multimedia device and it refers to video podcasts as video feeds. Nokia 5800 allows the users to subscribe to video feeds available over the internet and download the free content on the phone and view them whenever they want. Once you subscribe to a video feed, Nokia 5800 lists all the video content available in that feed. You can choose the files you wish to view, once you choose them, Nokia 5800 starts downloading them to your phone so that you can view them. You cannot view them in real time like YouTube, you need to wait for the content to complete download and only then you can view them. However, Nokia 5800 allows you to schedule the download at your convenient time.
How is a video feed different from YouTube and useful?
Video Feeds from a source website lists all the latest content that the website has to offer. For example – If you are subscribed to Cnet.com then you can view all the latest videos available with Cnet.com and choose to view them. There are a huge number of websites that offer video feeds which you can easily Google and get the video feed URL.

It’s Halloween again and we have been putting Halloween-related applications on this site. Why stop? Here’s some more for you. Would you want to have a fun application to cap the spooky season? Here’s a FREE application titled IQ Halloween, which I call “The Laughing Pumpkin”.
What is the Laughing Pumpkin?
The Laughing Pumpkin is a small application that is light on the drive space on your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. Install it on your phone and it will bring laughter on your Nokia phone literally.
Upon launching the application, a cartoon-draw pumpkin will appear with a clockwise effect. Then, the pumpkin will start moving up and down with a deep laugh and with eyes glowing. Pretty scary.
My take on the Laughing Pumpkin
I was not expecting much from this application other than being another party favor. When the Pumpkin starts laughing, this begins and ends the application. What do I mean? What I mean is that there is nothing much it does after this.
What sponsors?
This application could have been better if they put some other features like changing the color of the pumpkin, choosing another laugh such as a witch’s laugh or other more creative features.
When you close the application, a message will appear asking you to visit their sponsors. It seems that the reason why the application is FREE is because of sponsorship. When I accepted the link and waited for any ads to appear, unfortunately, nothing happened. No pop up photos or text. No websites. Nothing. I think the programmers need to go back to the drawing board and make this application ready for next year’s Halloween.
Also, it seems that the application will not be displayed full screen unlike other newly programmed applications. This one seems to be a compatible application and not solely written for the Noka 5800 phone. Should that be the case, then the developers of this application need to update the IQ Halloween pronto.
My Verdict on the Laughing Pumpkin
You can download this application since it’s FREE. Don’t expect much other than a laughing pumpkin. The thrill level for this application is high for the first five to ten seconds. After than, then you can turn off the application. You can show it off to your friends, which can be quite risky since the fun factor isn’t high on my scale. No “That is so cool” reactions here. You might just get some “Oh that’s nice” reactions. Pathetic isn’t it?
The Laughing Pumpkin application is a good add-on to your Halloween theme that we featured on this site. It can enhance your Halloween experience. But to solely depend on it isn’t something we advise.

Halloween is just around the corner and we would like to bring some scary themes for your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. Nothing like putting yourself in a frightful mood. We have three Halloween-inspired themes for you to download for FREE and try it out from Zensis Ltd.
What is Halloween Themes?
From the Ovi Store, Zensis Ltd. brings us three themes that can make you Nokia 5800 phone fit for Halloween. These themes are reminiscent of Asian movies that feature scary jumping zombies and blood-tainted mouths. Apparently, these themes promote the Ocean Park place in Hong Kong.
Halloween theme 1 has a smiling jack o lantern pumpkin with ghost faces at each side with English and Chinese text around it that says “Ocean Park Halloween Bash.” The theme is splashed with orange text and orange scrollbars. You cannot escape the Halloween madness with this theme.
Halloween theme 2 has a faceless woman wearing a traditional Chinese outfit with a paper umbrella. The eerie mood is splattered with green and misty effects. Notice the icons of the Nokia 5800. These icons have Chinese-related occult images such as a mirror, decapitated heads and scary faces.
Halloween theme 3 has a woman with long hair and is carrying a hand-woven basket. What makes it scary is that her head is covered with hair; so much so, that it looks like her head is the other way around. What’s under the hair? We don’t know and I don’t think I want to find out.
My take on Halloween Themes
These Halloween Themes are perfect for your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The color schemes, wallpaper and icons are right for this yearly event.
Unfortunately, the icons are quite limited and redundant. All three themes often share the icons and would only have one icon related to the theme (e.g. faceless girl or the Chinese-wearing girl). The makes of these themes would have made it better if they put more icons for this theme.
Also, the theme has a spooky ringtone – a ghostly sound. Again, this ringtone is shared to all three themes. We would have wanted each theme to have separate ringtones which is not too hard to do.

Download these themes. It’s FREE and will put you in the scary trick-or-treat mood. Show it to your friends. Start scaring people with your ringtone. Have a Spook-tacular night of fright. Nothing like a scary theme for your scary nights of Trick or Treat. Let's just say this is a treat for you.
