Converting videos using a freeware – Videora Nokia 5800 Converter

Videora Nokia 5800 Converter

Videora Nokia 5800 Converter

Videora Nokia 5800 Converter is a free converter for Nokia 5800 which converts videos from all formats (avi, divx, xvid, flv, x264, vob, mpeg, DVD's, YouTube, etc.) into MPEG4 and H.264 formats readily supported by our phone. I tried finding a lot of other freewares but none seem to be really good in terms of giving a simple interface with a dedicated profile for Nokia 5800. I ended up converting videos with either poor qualities or they won't play after getting converted.

I tried converting a few AVI movies on this tool and i could get a decent video and audio quality at 2/3rd the original size which was pretty amazing. Another problem that i generally faced was the audio being totally out of sync with the video after an hour long conversion with lenghty movies. I was able to convert videos on this tool flawlessly without any sync problems. Another great aspect that i noticed was the spped at which it converted the videos. I was able to convert a 700MB AVI file with a running time of 90 minutes in just half an hour.

Electrical Appliance Control from Nokia 5800

Surprised? Yeah! Even I was when I heard those words on youtube. Neuvex, yeah the same guys who bought multi-touch like application, "Neuboard Touch", an Image manipulation engine to Nokia 5800s have now come up with this amazing application to switch on/off your electrical appliances. Titled "NeuRoom", this is a 6th project under Neu Series by Sittiphol Phanvilai Neuvex. Check out the video below to see the application in action:

Looks like it takes more than an application to implement this in our homes. We will also need the control box, which brings bluetooth connectivity to our electrical appliances, which can then interact with our 5800s using this application. The application definitely has a very high "wow" potential but what remains to be seen is the cost of implementation of this project in our rooms. Nevertheless, its great work and hats off to Sittiphol Phanvilai Neuvex for his yet another cool application on the symbian platform.

P.S- Please note that this application is still in development stage and no word yet on when it will be released to public

Games: Marble Maze for Nokia 5800

Marble MazeMarble Maze is an addicting game with labyrinths on which you need to control the ball, not allowing it to touch the black points and driving it to goal. I think one way or another we have all played a kind of game like this, I remember to play with a "real" box (wasn't a virtual game)  and I needed to handle the box in a way so that I could get the ball into a certain point.

What was a game that helped me passing the boring times is now a virtual game and can be played as before, nothing changes. I mean...if something has changed is for better, because now you are able to play Marble Maze whenever you want from your Nokia 5800 Xpress Music.

"Marble Maze", from Cahoona Games, is a 5800 and N97 game that uses the orientation sensor built inside these Nokia phones. Like the real game, you just need to drive the ball into the goal flags with your own hands. That's simple, your 5800 is now the box and you simply use your hands to manipulate the ball.

I have played a game when I was in the Symbian SmartPhone Show on which I used the Nokia N97 (I am not sure if it was the N97...) to drive a remote control car - All I needed to do was handling the phone to left, right, up and down to make the car move. I can tell you it was difficult, but a new experience, and it was like a remote control indeed, because I haven't used any cables. Let's see what I will find in the MWC in Barcelona next week - yah, we will be there.

A closer look to Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

All over the web many bloggers and phone reviewers are witting about Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, many of those are crap and fast reviews but others are really great. Personally I prefer video reviews to mobile phones and that's why I selected this one to show to you all that have not yet bought Nokia 5800 Xpress Music.

Adaptive search explained by head of S60 marketing

I met Mikko Rontynen today at the Symbian Smartphones Show in London. I gathered quite a lot of content for PhoneReport, but managed to get this clever explanation of what adaptive search really is. I wasn't aware of its use, so do take a look, might be a good reason to actually buy the 5800:
