The V30 reached the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. We have mentioned before that many bloggers and forum communities were waiting for a firmware version 30.0.011 to v30.2.11. And here it is, the Nokia 5800 is now V30.
The new version is now available as an OTA (Over the Air - *#0000# from the home screen) update for some specific product codes (specific countries). Those who are not comfortable with the OTA method, might want to check the NSU update where this firmware version will be made available in the next few days.

Despite being V30 this update is very small, not a mega one as we were waiting, bringing some minor bug fixes, increases the performance and changes one homescreen feature. By the time I am posting, no official log was published, we can only base our views on this Firmware update by checking what others are saying on the web, because many of you will prefer to update via OTA and that way cannot be available for everyone. Despite being minor, it is highly recommended to update (do not forget to do a backup of the data before the update).
If you upgrade to V30 this is what you will get:
- No kinetic scrolling. We were waiting for kinetic on the v21.0.101 firmware update, but even with this new one we don't have the famous and rumored kinetic scrolling;
- This update will sound to you very "invisible", there are just minor changes, still, the update is recommended;
- As many reported you will get the HomeScreen e-mail notification on your Nokia 5800. This won't appear naturally after the update, you will need to hard reset your Nokia 5800 if you want to see the plugin;
- As on other firmware updates, you may get a small light-blue info box in the top-right corner whenever you click or scroll something. This box will have 2 numbers, you can try to restart but probably it won't disappear, it's annoying really. This is a debug info box and appears very much on the Nokia N97 (this one is full of bugs) and so the last thing you can do is to install this file: http://symbianresources.com/cgi-bin/schlabo/dl.pl?ErrRd and then uninstall it, this way you should get rid of that debug message box. Post on the comments section if this worked;
- Again a big frustration, but, don't lose your hope, V31 can bring the desired kinnetic and other major updates, who knows...
- The response from your Nokia 5800 is now improved, te 5800 is now running smother;
- At AAS many noticed more free RAM available;
- On-screen touch volume control (better quality of the music?);
- Browsing web pages is now faster on the default web browser;
- Youtube videos are loading faster via the default browser;

Is it just me, or are GPS sattelites being discovered much more quickly now?
The response form Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is much better, so that can also applies to the GPS satellites… hmm
Heh, Vodafone UK only just released V 21.0.025 about 2 weeks ago so I doubt I’ll be seeing this update any time soon. It doesn’t sound like it is that important to update to be honest, maybe if this update stopped my web browser closing randomly for no reason that’d be a good reason to update.

after updating to firmware v30 ..there seem to be a problem with free-isms 1.02, when u r typing ur message halfway & rotate d screen to landscape, the message will be cancel & u will return to the apps menu..i dunno is this free isms problem or the firmware fault but there speed improvement

I noticed that during silent mode, the vibration for messages was shorter. previously it was 2 long vibrations. Now it is 1 short one.
Also previously when u manually type in a number when u send a message. One that is already in ur contacts. it will only appear as that number you type in sent items. Now it correctly displays the contact’s name even though you did not choose it from the contacts.
can anyone tell me how to hard reset my nokia 5800?
U can apply this by pressing *#7340* and put the password 12345 or 0000
you can go via *#0000# its about 4MB, so make sure you have a good data plan

one bug i found in this new update v30. when you switch your home screen to contact bar option, home screen contains four default blank box and whenever you touch any of the box, it start mis-behaving and i cannot add contacts in that contact bar. i think this is a major bug discovered till now. performance of rest of the phone has improved.
Hey, I noticed that now if you change font size to small, you will see texts under the icons, and this is one that I was reely waiting for
now it looks better to me because I can use smaller icons and text 
And I’m totally happy because of the speed improvements, only the kinetic scrolling is missing, then it’s phone of dreams 
On top of that. The contacts and keypad icon in the main menu along with they onscreen keypad is now brighter then any previous versions.

Although its not avaliable in the UK. Ive seen the changes on other phones. one seems to be a faster/smoother transition from portrait mode to landscape mode
like the sound of tht king pin dont know about you but it seems quite slow to respond sometimes do you know of any other changes

I have this issue with my version 21.0.025. the contacts bar ( esp the fourth box) whenever touched, behaves crazy.
Any solutions for this???
I checked OTA, v30 is available. But considering the fact mentioned above, there are more CONS than the PROS. should i still go for it? I live in INDIA.

in order to save energy I set my screen lights to minimum, the new upgrade made essential buttons like numbers , contacts , and keypad easier to see even if you prefer to set your phone’s display light to minimum
In my case, I didn’t notice any improvements.
The only thing that is really noticeable, is that the phone works MUCH SLOWER now.
What a disappointment

Still not available on mine in UK. I’ve just emailed T-Mobile to see if they know when it will be available, will await a response (response within 5 days apparently).
I’m Not in UK but i’ve got the sim-free UK version. Here in Malaysia they already have the update a few weeks ago.
I’m sure some of the UK product codes will be one of the last to receive this firmware update (even previous ones, not to mention the future) . Too damn bad. ==

My cell have dec 2008 as manufacturing date.
My green button stop working and on default home screen settings numpad and contacts buttons on screen are not working too after that upgrade!!!
I hope nokia will repair this with new update in few days.

Hi, I have upgraded my RM-356 (blue version) to 31.0.008.C02.01 (latest according to Nokia PC suite). Suddenly the GPS is not connecting to any of the satellites and it’s frustrating as I used it mnay times before without a problem. Does anyone know of any issues please ?

I am from Hyderabad, India recently My Friend and me went to Nokia Priority Showroom, where my friend bought a new Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic (Black/Silver) Piece, and it is NOV 2009 Manufactured one and it was a brand new sealed Piece, it came with New Firmware Version i.e., 31.0.008, in built in it, and i used that phone, its fantasticly fast and so smooth and shockingly the price just Rs.14,200/- after tax. right now i dont think any touch screen phone will come near to it.
Why is this update only available for certain models and countries?? Isn’t all handhelds the same?
