i use some headfones from PHILIPS.

it comes with a choice of short or long lead. it splits in 2.

so i use just the short section on my nokia controller.

fantastic playback of music (i listen to alot of dance and trance, the bass is fab). and i can hear other caller really clearly.

i just use the headset,no adapter
try it without the adapter...just the bose headset.it will automaticly make you use the phone mic to speak into.
it works great for me

Hi All,

Noob 5800 owner (three days, to be exact). I have a good BT headset, but I must have a wired headset for my 5800. Sometimes I have to use my phone when I'm out and about and on call. It's critical my connection not be interrupted with a patient if BT drops the call, etc.

I've always used Nokia phones and I know they aren't always the "friendliest" with after market headsets.

For home use (trying to consolidate everything into my new 5800 for work, if possible), I tried to use my Bose headphones with Bose's mobile phone adaptor with microphone plugged in.

With the Bose headset WITHOUT the microphone for phone use, music sound was great and volume adjustment range was equally great.

With the Bose headset WITH Bose's in-line microphone adapter for cell phone use, the person I was testing it on with could hear me crystal clear ... the problem was they were barely - and I mean BARELY - audible on my end. Their voice was crystal clear but like the volume was turned all the way down ... only I had the 5800's volume all the way up.

Do I need to adjust a 5800 setting I'm not finding/figuring out as a noob? All I can find in the manual about headsets is: "You can connect a compatible headset or compatible headphones to your device. You may need to select the cable mode."

But the manual doesn't say anymore than that and I can't find anything else on it.

I thought about purchasing Etymotic's HF2s, but I don't if they'd be compatible with my 5800 - they are compatible with the iPh0ne 3G, but that's all the info I can get.

Sorry for the length of my maiden post. I need to find a good wired pair of headphones and/or headset I can use on the go. BlueTooth is great, but far from perfect for critical business calls no matter how high end. I can not have dropped calls as a result of BT on my emergent work related calls.

TIA for any help.

Great forum - as time permits, I'm enjoying reading the messages and have already picked up some great tips and fixes.

Regards to All,
Debra
