There is a new firmware for 5800 doing rounds in the inter-circles of web since June 22. Available for a selected few product codes (maily HongKong) and the firmware version is v21.0.101 and not v31.0.15 as has been widely rumored in blogosphere, which was previously covered in our blog here.
While there has been no official changelong released by Nokia, users who have updated their firmware have reported improved browsing experience on the default symbian browser and as with every firmware update the phone is more responsive and faster with the new update. There is a marginal improvement in the camera performance as well, which has been one of the most sought after feature by most of the 5800 users, ever since it was launched. Its good to know that Nokia have finally responded to requests from 5800 users. However Kinetic scrolling continues to baffle 5800 as of now.

Seen above is the screenshot from Navifirm, showing the product codes for which the update is available. Since the update is available only for 5800 users in Hong-Kong as of now, please update us if you are able update the firmware, while we will be updating you on its availability in other regions.

The update is not available in India.
I live in Spain and have a 5800 free.
I also have a Mac so I can´t install the NSU. Question: It´s there any way to update the software of my phone? I tried to do it OTA but it says there are not any available update. I have the 10… version.

i have the upgraded my 5800 to v.21. Touch interface was a vast improvement. very fast interface now. I running it with theme effects on. really responsive.
I upgraded to 21.0.101 by changing my product code to one of the listed Hong Kong codes. There were no issues with languages or anything, the upgrade went as smoothly as all the other updates.
So? What are the improvements? Anything new? Post some info dude!
The latest firmware is available in India for Nokia 5800 via FOTA but not via PC Suite. The update size is only 4.5MB. Significant improvement in touch response and overall phone response, seems to be much more faster. No additional functionalities or features have been added for now.
Just checked back, the new firmware for India is not v31 but its v30.0.011

i was able to updare via ota… All the above updates are true plus you get certain bonus features such as home screen email alerts although its not a widget…. Also the expired certificate error still exists… Improved speed but lags when music is playing with theme effects on…. And improved camera,battery life and browsing experience
Updated vi ota.. phone has become faster…but the screen lcd color change problem has been ocuring tooooooooooooo frequently.. -_-

We have 4 Nokia 5800. After 30.0.011 firmware update, when we make a videocall with the speakerphone, the person receiving, listen EVERY TIME with or without video, a broken voice! The voice U listen in the 5800 is perfect, and deceive you! The problem in fact is in trasmission! The 5800 speakerphone in video mode transmit jerky!
The problem is hard 2 understand! We found the strangeness by chance!
The problem is perceptible only in the other phone!!!!
Initially we thought it was a line problem! Later we test in the same place with the same full UMTS signal! It’s not a line problem, that’s 4 sure! Neither a phone problem! We try with 6 differents brand phones in full UMTS line! Only if we don’t use speakerphone but only the microphone the problem stop!
Have U Try it??!! We have found the problem in our 5800 phones!!!! Please help us! THANKS!!!!
