If you remember well, I talked about IMPS in my earlier post. Some of you had complaints that Yamigo does not support Gtalk. That’s one of the reasons that I am writing this post about yet another free IMPS server called Mobjab.

Before I begin, lets have a recap of what IMPS is:  IMPS stands for Instant Messaging and Presence Service. Nokia 5800 and most Nokia mobiles come with an inbuilt IMPS client. Now, IMPS is a protocol which allows instant messaging via Yahoo, MSN, etc. Mobjab is a free server that connects your handset with all these chat services. It acts as a bridge. The benefits of using the inbuilt client over using the external chat clients is effective and minimum data usage, its faster and low on your handset’s RAM.

Mobjab provides free connectivity with AIM/AOL, Gtalk, Yahoo, ICQ, Jabber-XMPP and MSN. To use the free service provided by Mobjab, all you need to do is to register with Mobjab and setup your multiple chat accounts.

Nokia 5800 works great with Mobjab and I have tested the connectivity successfully; however, the settings provided by the website are not all correct.

To setup Mobjab on your Nokia 5800, please follow the below instructions (after you have registered with Mobjab) –

Server Name : <Any Name you want>
Web Address : http://mobjab.mobi
UserID : <Your Mobjab Account ID>
Password : <Your Mobjab Account Password>
Access Point : <The one you use to access internet on your mobile>
