Nokia 5800 App review: ShoZu

By alexandr3 | May 9, 2009

shozu_mainscreenOne of the best free software out there is shoZu.

I have to confess: I never gave it a try before I got my 5800, but now I find it extremely useful and I keep thinking “How could I never used it before?”

Shozu connects you to almost all the self-content publishing sites. From Flickr to Photobucket. From YouTube to Facebook. Or even from Ipernity to Pikeo. I won’t bore you putting here all the services it offers, but I can tell you it’s up to 39 different ones. Impressive, huh? Well, it is for me.

The interface is adapted to S60 5th edition quite well. Being a native Symbian application, everything works the way you would expect. No strange menus or paths. Everything is very intuitive, so you won’t feel lost at any time.

Visually it is very appealing with the logos from the different services giving some color to it and also with some proprietary well-designed icons, in the settings menus.

ShozuYou'll be prompted with a screen where you have a list of all your subscriptions, and from there you can easily check for new updates or go on and publish something, if that’s what you want. At all times you’re allowed to send an email or add more sites to it.

Regarding the functionality, I must say that the services I have used were very easy and straightforward to configure and they worked quite well. For instance, if you want to post something to your blog, it gives you the same options as it would in the desktop experience... Title, post, tags, you name it!

Not only that but it can also upload automatically any media file you take on the fly, which is pretty handy since you don’t need to worry about uploading it to your sharing sites. It will do it for you, if you want.

And as I like detail, it is good to see the concern about roaming charges (especially for those of you who travel a lot) and the possibility to multi-upload to several accounts. Really nice touches.

Shozu_TwitterAs you can see on the side, in the screenshots, this is a great way to mobilize Twitter if you’re not into Twittix or Gravity. On a personal opinion this is a much better option because you can not only have Twitter but a lot more along with it.

I think Shozu is a piece of software that is now a must-have for any of my future phones from the moment I first installed it. It’s that easy and that appealing.

Take a look at it.

hi. i just bought the nokia 5800 and am trying to download shozu. upon download completion a pop up appears saying ‘certificate expired’.

    Hello mic,

Well, that happens to me sometimes too. I can’t remember if it happened with Shozu. However in previous devices, a change in the date of the device (usually putting one year behind) did the trick.

I hope you can make it because this is a very nice piece of software.

    Cheers,

No longer free, now it costs 7 euros, and the site sends you to the ovi store to buy it. I will pay no more than 1 euro or 1 usd for that, 7 is way to expensive
