Aren't you bugged from having to register at every other website you browse these days? I am sure most of internet surfers can identify with me when I say that nothing annoys me more than a "Username and Password don't match" message or its derivatives displayed on these websites! Now this is where applications come into picture and when it comes to password management, Spb Wallet by Spb Software has to be the best application in this genre.
Installation
Spb Wallet is paid application and is priced at US $ 29.95. A free trial can be downloaded from Handango here. Please note that you will be eligible for 20% discount, if you have previously purchased any application for Spb Software. As followers of our blog, if you did go by our suggestion and bought Spb Puzzle, now is the time to redeem 20% discount for your purchase of Spb Wallet.
As seen with Spb Puzzle reviewed earlier in our blog, the setup file for Spb Wallet is also gigantic, at 3.6 MB and hence not advisable for download on mobile data plans. (After installation, it takes up only around 2 MB of space on the device memory/memory card). Also since there is an additional desktop client, which can be used to sync with mobile as well as offers web integration on IE and Firefox, downloading on desktop/notebook is recommended.

Features
e Spb Wallet is a very powerful password manager and its practically impossible to review all the entire feature set of this amazing application in a single post. However, I will try to highlight the most commonly used features of this application. The first thing you will notice about this application is its onscreen keyboard (check the gallery for screenshot), which may be in a confusing format but is very practical to enter short passwords and is faster than navigating to the onscreen keyboard of the s60 v5 OS. The password screen has other features like password strength indicator, and password hint, for that desktop like experience.
Well, coming to the main features of this application, Spb Wallet has around 60 templates, covering almost every type of card/login information you may ever need to save. Further there is an option for downloading (via desktop client) more templates from the Spb online gallery with over 7000 design templates to chose from. Each of these templates is highly customizable and the entries are hyperlinked meaning you can SMS or call the phone number, saved as Lost Phone no., directly from this application. Once you select the template, all you need is to key in the particulars and save for later use. One can customize the template to look exactly like the card they have. This is best done on the PC client and then synced to the mobile client.
One of the features of the desktop client, I personally like is the auto password generator, which can randomly generate passwords at a password strength set by the user. I have personally run out of passwords, considering the number of websites I have to browse through every day. The one click password generator was just the feature I was looking for but I wasn't expecting it via a desktop client for a symbian application but am glad nevertheless.
Coming back to the mobile client, most of us have several credit cards these days and keeping track of their numbers is something beyond my memory limits. Spb Wallet pitches in here as well, as I can just search by the name and in one click, I have access to all the information related to a particular credit card. In addition to credit cards, users can save and search login information for different networking sites which are increasing by leaps and bounds these days.
These days, most users juggle between atleast two PCs and the desktop client can be installed on both and synced via gmail integration. Wallet files are saved as encrypted attachments, which can then be used to sync across several PCs. Further the client supports data import from other electronic wallets applications like eWallet, FlexWallet, CodeWallet, SplashID, HandySafe, and a custom CSV file.
Some of the other customisation options provided within the application are: setting up time lag for auto lock (within the application), number of incorrect entries before password hint is shown and lock in background.
Pros
- High level security with 256 bit AES encryption
- Onscreen keyboard is a delight
- Cards can be customized to look exactly like the physical ones
- Powerful desktop client equipped with sync/importing, web integration and phishing filter features
Cons
- Desktop client is not compatible with Mac
- Wallets are not displayed on login (Users need to remember the location of each wallet)
Verdict
Spb Wallet is a very powerful password manager for mobile devices and with an equally powerful desktop client, it offers one of the best password management solutions to internet as well as mobile crowds today. Its more customizable and the desktop client is miles ahead when compared to its nearest competitor Handy Safe from Epocware, which surprisingly is priced higher than Spb Wallet (US $ 34.95). Handy Safe does provide a better 448-bit Blowfish encryption but Spb Wallet beats Handy Safe in almost other features. Between Handy Safe and Spb Wallet, I would definitely opt for Spb Wallet for its better customization and powerful desktop client. Spb Wallet may seem to be pricey at US $ 29.95, but the feature set it offers do justify the pricing. You can buy in many places, such as Handango (safer).

I’d say cut the price to 9,99 and reduce the feature set and it’s a definit buy from me.
There is a free program available too. Of course there is not so much features but it does what it’s supposed to do: to keep your passwords in safe and still in easy access.
I got it wrong I thought this soft will complete auto my passwords too when I open
A website.
Spb does price it’s Iphone products a lot cheaper only $9.95. Maybe Spb thinks S60 users should be overcharged. Lets not buy these stupid products with marketing “double standards”. I understand Spb wants us S60 users to move to using an Iphone(conspiracy theories :-).
But I hate companies that sell their Iphone software version cheaper.
Overall is good, beat handy safe.
But theres 1 flaw/bug..
When i select email address from one of the card.. Its always saying “no mailbox found, define new mailbox?”
Hell i already have mailbox (GMX IMAP) set, n working properly!
