Sometimes while working on the PC or laptop, you tend to forget your phone until it is someone calling you. If there is a sms, the notification is not much longer or significant to attract your attention. In such cases, it is really nice to have some application that notifies you in real time of any sms that you receive on your phone through a pop-up on your computer.

Nokia PC Suite notifies the user on the computer if your connected phone receives any sms or call only when you are connected via cable or Bluetooth. It still does not have a WiFi support for connecting to the phone. WiFi SMS is an interesting application further exploring the capabilities of Nokia 5800. WiFi SMS application once connected to your phone via WiFi, notifies of any sms that you receive real time and also provides you with an option to reply to it.

WiFi SMS application has a server part and a client part. The client part is a regular Symbian application that you need to install on your phone while the server part is a single windows executable file that you need to run whenever you connect your phone with your PC. Once you have installed the client, just run the server on your desktop by double clicking on the EXE file. Launch the client on your phone and connect specifying the IP Address of your PC/Laptop on the WiFi network.

Once connected successfully, every time you receive a sms, there will be pop-up window on your computer screen displaying the sms and the option to reply to the sms. It also displays the name and number of the person who sent you the sms.

It is really nice to see such apps coming up for Nokia 5800. WiFi is one connectivity option that has long been used just to browser the internet. It is time now that Nokia should integrate this connectivity option with the Nokia PC Suite.
