Python for S60 has now updated to version 2.0 and is available via the N5800's inbuilt Application Update utility. Along with the new python update, there is a python application called Scribble 0.2 available as well. You can follow this link to understand how to use the Application Update utility in your phone. Python for S60 2.0 is a mobile platform like the Java MIDP 2.1 platform that enable your phone to run the application written using the Python framework for mobile.

Anyone has a problem/error installing this software? And maybe a solution?
Always error, but with no message what went/is wrong…
I’ve tried to uninstall python 1.9.7 &restart the phone and tried to update, as it was suggested somewhere, but with no luck
same here, searched loads of forums, they all say to uninstall previous versions which ive done and it still wont install.
Same here, I did exactly the same thing you did. It never installed.
same here… not able to install the software… getting “install failed”. I read from other forums that you need to “hard reset” the phone to be able to install the software.
same issue, update installation fails…tried everything but unfortunately haven’t found a solution yet.
I’ve finally installed it
I uninstalled previous version of Python (1.9.7), all unnecessary software (QT demo between them, which contained some software new Python update package contains), restarted my phone (and maybe tried to install update from Nokia, but I’m not sure), downloaded Python 2.0 from other place (sorry, I don’t remember from where… google for it, AFAIR it was called “PythonS60v2.0.0.rar” or “Python S60 v2.0.0.sisx”, but it was recognized by phone as Python from Nokia) and installed it (it went smoothly, request for update Python disappeared, eventhough I knew it was not enough because of other software original package of Python 2.0 from Nokia update installs), restarted, uninstall this Python once again (since as I mentioned above: it was only “the Python 2.0 itself”, and not the other software that is included in Nokia package of python -and as mentioned before- in QT package I uninstalled previously) and restart the phone.
After that I could install the update from Nokia -it seams to be a lot of work, but it was anyway much faster in my case than it would take me to back up, hard reset and restore my whole phone and data.
Though, I’m not sure exactly which task/step taken by me was the most important one -maybe installing Python 2.0 (“pure”, without other software Nokia’s update brings) from different package than Nokia’s, maybe uninstalling some other software (QT being the most suspected one). Maybe You -who having problems with update- should try only one of my steps and write Your experience here to help others.

i have Nokia 580 and i went intothe app updte application and when i tried to update the python and scribble it wont let me it keeps saying 2 update failed could sum1 help me plz thnx my email is cyrus_the_virus2@hotmail.com
GUYS I GOT IT! i figured it out lol. heres wat u gotta do. u probably installed python on a memory card and even after uninstalling u cant install the new one from nokia. so take out your memory card, cuz watevers interfering with the update is on the memory card. now update it.it should work. and even after u put card back in there should be no error. i just fixed mine 2 mins ago and its working. scribble app is working and all other python apps i hade like xpressnote and xpressSketch are working too. I got python 2.0 from elsewhere but i can’t get scribble from the update. Also i don’t have pips installer or the other stuff now
ur only gonna get scribble of u got ur python from nokia. uninstall then reinstall via app updater as i said in earlier post. shud work. Cheers!
I had probs with the error messages BUT after switching phone off and on it now works!!!
Also, another method is to check for updates using the OVI Applicacation and running the update from there.
I Had the same Problem as you u guys, but OVI worked for me.
Thanks for Abdallah Haq. I just take out the memory first, then uninstall the old version 1.09 python. Then i install python 2.00 sis tht i download at pc and bluettoth to my phone. But one thing i want to ask. I still unable to update the scibble python at SW update. What should i do now?
@Jacwah: thats because u got ur python from a third party. uninstall it and take out memory card. THEN use SW updater to update both python and scribble.
