Nokia Music v1.3 for PC has a new name, it is now called as Nokia Ovi Player. The Nokia Music for PC will automatically upgrade to the new Ovi Player with no changes to your existing data and settings from your previous version. This is a free upgrade. Just launch the player which will then prompt you to upgrade. Allow it to download the additional files and upgrade.
Nokia is in a continuous effort to bring all its software products under a single brand Ovi. This will be in the interest of the end user as the phone users will no longer be required to install multiple software applications for different aspects of the same mobile phone. Currently we have an Ovi Suite, Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Software Updater, Nokia Map Loader and Nokia Ovi Player and a few more helper applications. Once all of these are integrated into a single suite, it will certainly help push up the Nokia Phone sales.

I just don’t want Nokia to be my “hub”. I don’t want all of my e-mail flowing through them, I don’t want my music experienced coordinated through them, etc. I understand they’re doing it so they can “be like Apple” (e.g. iTunes, etc.). However, I DIDN’T buy an iPhone specifically because I don’t want Apple’s Draconian control to restrict what I can do. So for me, Nokia’s investment in the “Ovi” brand and their Apple look-alike suites is simply a waste of capital that could’ve been applied elsewhere.
Just remember, Nokia music store has ONLY DRM-protected files. I wouldn’t recommend buying them for anyone.
Every time I try to install the Ovi Player update the installation fails. I’ve tried uninstalling Nokia Music first – same thing? I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks.
I just installed and unintalled Ovi Suite. I always hated Nokia PC Suite and Ovi Suite is even worst. It is huge, installation web installer is over 90 MB, after installation it takes over 300 MB from our hard drive. Installation offers no settings, not even where you want to install it.
After installation it consumes huge amount of resources and forces it self to starts after windows start. It tempt to do everything but I don’t want to listen to music or watch movies with OVI player, I don’t want buy music on OVI store, I don’t want organize my photos with OVI.
Why Nokia can’t produce simple compact tool, that I can use when I want and to do job I want?
Do we want so much?
-back up and restore mobile content
-update firmware (because original firmware is shit)
-upload and update maps in mobile
I second that, Martin!
i THIRD that,
martin
Worst software ever! I’ve just ruined my contacts by syncing all Outlook contacts without even asking what folder to sync!
And also there’s no sorting, no custom columns in contact views, no details, there’s nothing except semi-cool interface!!! Why animate something that I need it urgently! Where are keyboard shortcuts? I’m so disappointed!
I’ll be very happy after replacing my Nokia phone!
Martin said it all.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD
I don’t get it….why nokia is trying to follow apple???
After all nokia is the leader in the mobile segment n leaders are to set there own path, not just copy others.
I’m always looking into things on information that I do not know of. It’s tough to search things that you do not know about, because what do you search for?
Your blog is the type of thing I love to read about on something new to me. Awsome read! Thank you.
