Scrabble ® is one of the most widely played board game across the world with over 150 million sets sold worldwide. Its only fitting that its now available on one of the most popular phones today. Yeah, Scrabble is available as a free download on our Nokia 5800s. Scrabble comes from the benches of well known Real arcade games. Lets take a look at how the game fares on our favourite phone.

Installation

Scrabble Mobile v1.04 can be downloaded for free from mobicreed.com. Its a java based game and as usual we need to get rid of the virtual D-pad from the screen.

The game takes sometime to load (~10 seconds) with the intro animation and the sound effects taking a load on the CPU (I guess). There are three options to chose from :

1. Classic: As the name suggests, its the classic Scrabble game with the option of playing with upto 4 human players. So the next time you are in the back seat of a long distance drive, you know how to entertain yourself and your friends. You can aslo challenge yourself by playing with the computer with different skill set: beginner, average, pro and genius
2. Solitaire: This is a single player Scrabble game, good to improve your skills, prior to challenging the computer
3. Quickstart: This is something like Text-twist (also from Real arcade). You are given a set of alphabets and asked to form four words with as many letters as possible. Even in this mode you can play with upto 4 human players or challenge the computer at different skill set as above

Lets now summarise the pros and cons of Scramble Mobile on Nokia 5800.

Pros

1. Well designed interface, fully optimized for full screen finger touch gaming
2. Several gameplay options varying from multi player human/computer  opponents to single player and game options like classic, quickstart and solitaire
3. Excellent graphics and sound effects

Cons

1. Not compatible with landscope mode

2.   Takes around 10-15 seconds to load

3.   Dragging and dropping the alphabets is difficult with finger touch

Verdict

Scrabble® Mobile is one of the better games on 5800 today with a well designed interface, impressive graphics and sound effects. Every gameplay option possible on this board game has been incorporated into this version. Its definitely the best java based game on Nokia 5800 today. If you are a Scrabble fan, this is definitely a must have on your 5800 and even a good option for beginners.
