New Firmware. New Features?
Recently, rumors that our favorite Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone will be receiving a major firmware update is circulating in the internet. Included in this firmware upgrade are certain addressed issues and functional tweaks.
Some rumored functional and aesthetic improvements are the kinetic scrolling in the web browser and contacts list. Kinetic or flick scrolling is an awesome feature that iPhone introduced where the user "flicks" the screen and the unit responds with a fluid scrolling function. Double tap will zoom into the screen. That will look great in the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone.
Another upgrade will be the enhanced homescreen of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone which is found in the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic phone model that uses a homescreen with combined Contacts Bar and the shortcuts bar. This adds up to 20 contacts on the contacts bar and widgets can be placed on the homescreen.
When will this firmware update be released for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone? Still no date yet. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the good folks of Nokia will have us experience these new features and more in their upcoming firmware upgrade.

I also hope they will fix things like the calender that has a few things that it misses. And also that they make the front screen a bit more advanced that they have on the N97.

I hope that Nokia do, do this update on the 5800, because the 5530’s firmware looks very good and stylish
… Anyways, no one knows what will happen! 
Kinetic scrolling and double-tap zoom is already available in the symbian browser on the 5800, but it would be a welcome addition to the rest of the interface.
It would also be nice if they could free up some memory, I have barely anything memory-resident installed and still only have 40-ish MB free!
i dnt knw whether its only me or everyone.. bt i think v can’t select text in the 5800 browser.. atleast i can’t. maybe its also fixed. if there is a way to do it then plz tel me folks..
couple things I want:
a better keyboard interface,make the mini qwerty half screen and make it switch to full qwerty when phone is rotated
like dan said an app to free memory
home screen widgets
Well, I personally think the internal memory of Nokia 5800 should be more than 80MB..
would be nice to have some flik scrolin

the double tap zoom in browser is hell! click on a link, it zooms? i just hope they don’t mess it up more than it is already. they need to sort the gallery, file structure & browser before they try being an iphone. walk before you can run!

I agree with Lee…NOKIA needs to fix all the bugs with the existing firmware. Mine occasionally wipes the memory card when I’m using the music player, for instance. Not cool! Come on NOKIA, finish what you started!
