Nokia took over Trolltech ASA in 2008 and renamed it to Qt Development Frameworks. We already know about Java which enables applications to run platform independent. Qt is a similar cross platform software. Nokia is set to target 80 million devices with Nokia Qt 4.6.0. This new framework for Symbian devices will provide better UI designs and applications.
To give the Nokia Symbian users a preview of what Qt is capable of, they have released a demo app for Nokia S60 5th Edition device. You can download the same here. The demo application is called Fluidlauncher. It demonstrates the kinetic scrolling and drill down features among other spectacular features.
Download the demo sis file and go on through accepting all the options. You may get some warnings saying that some of the components are missing, ignore them and continue with the installation. After the installation completes, launch the app and you can browse the various demo modules which showcase the different aspects of the Qt framework.
It was really amazing to see such features being implemented in future, however, there is one question that emerges, is Nokia 5800 designed to support such features ?
Do leave your views and comments on the introduction of the new Nokia Qt framework.

Is Nokia 5800 designed to support such features? Oh yes!
Actually, the 5800 seems to be the favored test device for the S60 Qt port.
I’m busy creating a web browser (kind of Opera Mini clone) using it and it works great!
Now, the problem is the size of the “DLL’s”. It takes a hefty 10Mb of our poor 80Mb of RAM.
I hope they will include Qt in ROM at one point…
it says the PIPS installer requires 1.01 or higher, how can i update mine?
Try installing python 1.9.7 as it comes with the Pips installer, you can get it from one of my posts about Python app. This may solve the problem, Also, try updating the firmware.
“This new framework for Symbian devices will provide better UI designs and applications.” The Qt Framework, is more than just a Framework for Symbian. It’s a framework for several OSes: Windows, Linux, Mac, Symbian, Maemo.

yes! a stylish if little slow in response interface to come? let’s hope this come’s to fore via updates or standalone app….only time will tell.
Beware!!!
I tried to install but the installer said that some required files were missing in my phone and it gave me the option to cancel the install. I cancelled the install and now my Home Screen Shortcuts Bar will not work. I’m in the process of re-installing my firmware to fix the phone. I’d avoid this installation.

I’ve tried the demo and I was quite stunned by the look and feel of these apps. However, the demo media player came to halt while trying to play MP4 file.
I’m expecting Nokia to release an update which includes the features in demo apps.
