By Sushant Ghargi | May 24, 2009

Google translator needs no introduction and is one of the most widely used applications on internet today. I am sure am speaking for most of the geek community here, when I say that at many a times, I land on a site in foreign language, with no links for an English version. Most of the times, you badly need the information and need it fast. That's where google translator pitches in, I get the required info from the website in a matter of seconds. Now you don't have to switch on a PC for your quick translation needs, for google team has come up with a google translator widget for our beloved 5800s.

Installation:

The widget can be downloaded for free from the following link: http://www.symbian-freeware.com/download-google-translator-widget.html. The installation file is a meagre 8 kb file and installation is lightning fast. The widget is pretty basic with no fancy options and it does what it meant to in a blink of an eye. The widget looks something like this on your 5800:

The best feature of this widget is that it auto detects the source language and you have to only select the output language. I am so gonna use this widget to impress my friends with my grasp over European languages without having to know which is what!

Some screenshots covering the different languages supported in this version of google translator:

Pros:

  1. Easy to use interface with lightning fast translation
  2. Very light on RAM and memory

Cons:

  1. Works only online and hence high data charges may limit its widespread usage
  2. No dictionary support
  3. No support for entire site translation (like in google translator on the web)

Verdict:

A handy translator widget for light translation needs like in travelling and fooling around with friends.
