New camera?

The United States al Communications Commission (FCC) has approved the latest Nokia phone unit called the Nokia 5800i. Apparently, this is a different version of our beloved Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone which has been a major contender in the worldwide cell phone race and tagged as an iPhone killer.

There are two specific rumored differences between the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone and the Nokia 5800i version:  A longer focus camera and no wi-fi.

Compared to its big brother, the Nokia 5800i still has a 3 megapixel camera but has a longer focus distance. The Nokia 5800i has 4.6mm as opposed to the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone’s 3.7mm. It could be that this unit has a larger sensor that fixes the performance lags we have on the camera of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone.

Looks the same or is it?

Yes. You read it right. It is rumored that the wi-fi feature which we love so much has been pulled out from the Nokia 5800i. It seems that this unit is specifically made for the China market. The United States al Communications Commission (FCC), sports WCDMA 900/2100 and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE were given to the Nokia 5800i which China Unicom uses. Apparently, China does not allow wi-fi in phones because of the strict internet access the government allows.
