Welcome to the Carnival. Hahahaha!

Welcome to the Carnival. Hahahaha!

Since Halloween is coming soon, we decided to showcase some FREE spooky applications you can download at the Ovi Store for your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. Our first offering comes from Carnival Comics. An intriguing digital comic book entitled “Carnival of Souls.”

What is the “Carnival of Souls”?

The Carnival of Souls is the story of Jazan Wild know is also known as “The Amazing Tiger Boy.” After a visit to a mysterious carnival, Jazan hops on a plane with his mother. Due to a simple ride gone bad, Jazan was the only survivor in a plane crash. Then, he was adopted by tigers in the wild jungle where they landed. There his story begins.

“Carnival of Souls” is another digital comic from Carnival Comics. With the Nokia 5800’s full graphic display, this e-comic can be read with the finest quality without sacrificing the colors and shades of the drawings. This is another awesome vehicle for comic books to appear on mobile phones such as the Nokia 5800.

When you launch the application, you will be shown the comic book cover. This digital comic proudly banners the title “Jazan Wild’s Carnival of Souls” with a demonic-looking clown with a devilish smile on his face peeking behind the curtains.

To turn to the next page, just swipe the screen to the left as if you are turning the page. The screen will scroll from left to right with a new page coming in. If you want to go to the previous page you just read, just swipe the screen to the right.

Something that was absent in the previous e-comic “Atomic Dreams” was a way to get out of the application anytime. Previously, there was no way to close the application properly except through forced means (press the middle button on the phone, wait of the task bar to appear, click-hold the icon and select “Exit”). Now, you can tap on the screen and two options will appear. You can choose “Back” to return to the comic or select “Options” then “Exit.”

My Take on “Carnival of Souls”

I have always been a fan of comics. Bringing it to digital form is a good way of keeping it alive.

Unfortunately, we still have a problem with this version. It would have been best if we can jump from one page to another instead of swiping the screen until we get to our desired page. This would be a welcomed feature, which I hope can be added soon.

My Verdict on “Carnival of Souls”

Download this digital comic. Be forewarned. The applications you are about to download may be too spooky for you to bear.

The Carnival of Souls Comic application can be downloaded for FREE at the Ovi Store. Just register to access the site. You can also download this application straight to your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone by installing the Ovi Store Application.
