Nokia App: EA Games

Don't bother getting this application!

Don't bother getting this application!

Now before you start jumping for joy and being all excited for this EA Games application, let me kill the suspense already. This application is practically useless. The Electronic Arts (EA) Games application that can be downloaded from the Ovi Store is nothing but a glorified shortcut to the EA website. The inherit Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic web browser will open to the website that showcases EA’s game titles. And what else does this application do? Basically, that’s it. Nothing much.

I would have felt better if they had sample games just to try out. Knowing EA, they produce some of the most spectacular games on different consoles such as the Playstation, Nintendo and Personal Computers. If they could bring the technology to the Nokia 5800 phone, it would really be something impressive. But there was no trace of any games to try. No sneak peaks. No downloadable trialwares.

Why am I wasting my time writing this review? So that you don’t have to waste time, effort and Internet bandwidth to get this worthless application installed in your phone. We are doing a public service announcement (PSA). Do not bother getting this application. On Nokia5800.net, we tell you what we think about the software, games or applications on the Nokia 5800. Some of you agree with us while others don’t. But I am very confident that we will all agree that this application is a waste of time.

Which makes me think about the standards of the Ovi Store.

Does the Ovi Store just accept any application without checking it? Don’t they have any criteria to make sure that only great applications, games and the like appear in the Ovi Store? Without proper guidelines, the Ovi Store could just turn into a repository of bad applications and would give the audience (us) a hit-or-miss in getting good software.

If you still don’t believe us, go ahead and download the EA Games application at the Ovi Store. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
