Which sushi should you choose? Delicious!
Welcome to the wonderful world of sushi! To sushi lovers everywhere, a new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic application highlights the different sushi that exists today. OffScreen presents Sushis.
What is Sushis?
Sushis is a simple application from Offscreen Technologies that gives a rundown of all kinds of sushis known to man. Upon launching the application, it will stall for a few seconds but you should not be worried about it. Afterwards, you are greeted with a dark brown bamboo background. Then appears a menu list of Japanese-sounding words. These are the different kinds of sushis.
At the upper left corner, you will see a big “I” which will pop the “About Us” window. At the upper right corner, you will see a big “X” which ends the application.
Navigation is very simple. The Sushi menu is listed vertically. All you need to do is run you fingers up or down the roster and the sushi menu will go up or down. Also, a hand icon will appear signing that you are, as if, dragging the menu vertically. The movement is quite similar to how you scroll up or down with the iPhone.
There are about 32 kinds of sushi in this application. Some familiar to be are the California Maki and the Ebi. Others are quite “foreign”. Choose a selection by tapping on the word. Then, the Sushi application pops a picture of the sushi you have chosen in full color. You can find the name of the sushi at the bottom of the screen.
From here, you have two ways to navigate. If you want to choose via the menu function, just tap the button found at the upper left corner of the screen and you will be brought back to the menu.
The second way to do it is by swiping the screen towards the left or right with your finger. The pictures will shift depending on the direction you swipe. This is similar to looking at photos in the inherit Gallery function of your Nokia 5800 phone.
What I think about the application?
The Sushi application is just a mere picture show. Although I do admit that I was quite surprised that there are different kinds of sushi, which I was unaware of. But there were no descriptions of the sushi, what ingredients or what it was made of. You will keep second guessing as to what food you are looking at. Is it shrimp? Is it fish?
However, I appreciate OffScreen for using the Nokia 5800 as a possible venue to showcase menus of food. I do see the possibilities of using the same concept to benefit (and maybe earn a profit) where different restaurants and food chains can use the Nokia 5800 to show their menu for free with applications such as this.
My verdict
If you want to see pictures about sushis, then the Sushis application can be your starting point. But it won’t give you much information other than its name and its photos. And it is something that’s nice to have on the phone but not an essential tool for anything but showing your friends the different kinds of sushis.
The Sushis application can be downloaded for FREE at the Ovi Store by clicking here. Just register to access the site. You can also download this application straight to your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone by installing the Ovi Store Application.
