With the world awaiting the release of Microsoft Windows 7, MMMOOO has just released their newest interface product for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone – Win 7. They have already the application being sold but they have not offered to anyone the trial for the Win7. We got you first on the web that has the chance to try the Win7 application for free. This is just a trial, not a full envyronment of the applicattion. You can find more just going here.

From the makers of the MyPhone application, Win 7 is the newest application from MMMOOO that brings the graphical user interface of the Windows 7 platform to the Nokia 5800. This application will be your application launcher for the different default software installed in your phone. Let's have a look at the Full Version reviewed by me.

Installation:

Installation is very simple. Just launch the installation file from either your phone or via the Nokia PC Suite while it is connected to your Nokia 5800 via USB. Follow the instructions via the installation wizard. After it is done, you can launch the application by finding its Win 7 icon which typically is placed under the Applications folder.

The Look and Feel

The Win 7 application does look like the clean graphical interface of Microsoft’s anticipated Windows release. You can find the Windows Aero logo in a bubble at the lower left corner of the screen. There are certain desktop icons seen such as Messages, Bluetooth and Contacts found at the left part of the screen. There are widget-like icons found at the right portion of the screen namely the analog clock and the calendar (with month, date and year). At the bottom taskbar, you can find the signal icon, battery and time which are displayed using military time.

The widgets and icons are stationary and cannot be switched or moved around the screen.

When you touch the Windows Aero logo, the typical Windows Menu pops. Then, you can choose the application you want to launch based on the categories that Win 7 comes with such as Phone, Message, Multimedia, Organizer and others. In choosing the Calendar, you must go to “All” then “Organizer” then “Calendar”. Afterwards, the built-in Nokia 5800 calendar application will launch. Note that all applications will be in landscape mode since the Win 7 application is in landscape mode.

Choose the program.

When you touch the “More” icon on the desktop, this will show the five frequently-used items encased in a windows folder. Somehow, the Win 7 application determines these frequently-used items because there is no option to do so.

If you want to stop using the application, just click on the “Power” button and you can choose either “Standy” and “Quit”. “Standby” puts Win7 in the background while “Quit’ closes the application.

One neat feature about the Win 7 application is that you can change the wallpaper of the desktop. You can choose from the six built-in desktop wallpaper options. These include the Win 7 background (which is similar to the real Windows 7 wallpaper), Apple (which is the default blue wallpaper for the Mac OS X) and colors Green, Blue, Black and Grey. Upon choosing the option, the color scheme also changes. The preview of the desktop can be seen when choosing an option. Unfortunately, we cannot customize our desktop with a photo from our collection. Perhaps the programmers of MMMOOO will include that in the next versions or updates.

Please do remember that this application is a launcher application. This will not change your Nokia 5800 phone into a Windows Mobile cellphone.
