Nokia Game: Connect4

Arrange the pieces and get four in a row.

Have you ever played the games Plot Four, Find Four, Four in a Row, and Four in a Line? If you have played even just one of them, they are actually different name of just one well-loved game called Connect Four. Want to play it on your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone? Now you can take this game anywhere you want with Connect4 – another wonderfully made game by OffScreen Technologies.

Connect4 (Disk Touch) takes the traditional game (Connect Four) to the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. The goal is very simple: to form a four series of interconnected colored chips in a vertical, horizontal or diagonal manner. This can be done by dropping alternating colored discs (typically made of plastic and has the red or yellow color) into the “game board “consisting of seven column  and six rows (or 42 slots). This concept was based on the old game called “The Captain’s Mistress.”

Upon launching the game, you are immediately greeted with the blue “game board”. Choose if you would like to play the game via “one player” or do it with a friend via “two players” mode. Then, a plastic piece appears on top of the board. You have to guide this plastic piece to the column you want it to be dropped using your finger or the stylus that comes with the Nokia 5800. Once your drag the piece to the column of choice let it go and it will drop. Almost automatically, the computer (in one player mode) will drop his token (different color) on his column slot. You take turns in the hopes that someone will form “four in a row “and win the game. Let’s hope that it is you.

If you are going to play in “two player” mode, just take turns passing the phone. I’m sure it will bring a very challenging game between friends.

Once you are done for the day, just click the “X” found at the top right part of the screen to quit.

It is a game of wit and strategy. I have played this game countless times and I never tire of playing it. Now that it is in the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone as a FREE game, I am sure to spend time with it especially during dull moments of commute or waiting in line.

Some advise. When playing, be very careful to touch the screen while you drag the pieces. Make sure that you do not let go or else it will drop on the column where you may not want it to be. I suggest using the stylus so you can have better control of the direction.

Unfortunately, the game does not have a level of difficulty. But, mind you, do not underestimate the computer. He may just have some tricks up his sleeve.

The animation is very fluid. The concept may be simple but it takes creativity to bring the fluidity and the addictiveness of the game to the Nokia 5800 proving that an amusing game need not be too graphics intensive.

The Connect4 game is FREE to download at the Nokia Ovi store and created by the awesome developers of OffScreen Technologies Ltd.
