Haiti is the third largest country in the Carribean. It is one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere. Haiti was struck by a massive earthquake of magnitude 7.0 on the 12th January which has affected around three million people. This earthquake hit the most populated part of the country and claimed about 200000 lives. On 21st January, the Haiti government announced that more than 80000 bodies were buried in mass graves. A huge number of people are homeless and without food.

It is these times when we should act together and as one world even though if we speak different languages and have different cultures. There is aid coming to Haiti from all possible mediums, however, they are all insufficient if you compare compare the magnitude of destruction to life and property. The already weak economy has further suffered a big blow.

It is our duty on humanitarian grounds to help the people of Haiti in what ever way possible. The country needs a huge huge financial aid and all the major government bodies and corporate bodies including the NGOs have setup numerous ways in which you can donate funds to support Haiti.
